OUR STORY

We started out as a tiny café with a big heart and an even bigger passion for good food made with locally sourced ingredients.

Tucked away by the Sett Valley Trail in the High Peak, our little spot quickly became an off-the-beaten-track foodie favourite. Since opening in 2018, we’ve been serving up pies, cakes, and smiles to locals, walkers, and hungry explorers alike.

As the café grew faster than we ever imagined, something special began to take shape — and Sett Valley Kitchen was born, home to Live & Let’s Pie.

Then came COVID — the moment that changed everything. Instead of slowing us down, it gave us the push to evolve. With more and more people craving our homemade, locally sourced goodies, we needed more space to bake, create, and keep up with demand.

So, we packed up our rolling pins and moved into the old Torrs Pub kitchen on Market Street, New Mills, now shared with our friends at Millers Refillers, the Zero Waste shop.

This is where the magic happens: trays of cakes cooling on the racks, golden quiches fresh from the oven, and our signature Live & Let’s Pie creations taking shape. From here, we supply other local establishments who share our love for quality ingredients and honest food made with care.

As for our roots, Sett Valley Café continues its story as Emma’s Sett Valley Café, still full of the same warmth, community spirit, and homemade goodness that started it all. We couldn’t have dreamt of handing it over to a better person.

Pop by for a coffee, a chat, or a slice of something delicious (made by us!) and see where it all began.
